A mid-size feature commonly films for 40 to 50 days, a larger studio production 80 to 100, and an hour-long television drama runs roughly eight shooting days per episode across a season. Crew are also on the ground for prep before the first day and wrap after the last, so the time somebody actually needs a bed is meaningfully longer than the shooting schedule suggests. In practice that means a stay of several weeks to several months — squarely furnished mid-term territory rather than nightly. The workforce is substantial and local. What an owner should be careful about is not whether crew exist, but whether production volume in a given year supports counting on them.

The studio sits on the former Fort McPherson base less than six miles from downtown, so some crew do stay in town, but most optimise for two things: minutes to the lot and minutes to the airport, because film work means flying in and out. That is a part of metro Atlanta with a great deal of ordinary housing stock and very little of it set up as a furnished thirty-day-plus let, which is the opportunity. It is also worth knowing the studio is still growing — a thirteenth soundstage, built for virtual production, is expected operational by the end of 2026.

Production spend in Georgia was $2.0 billion across 280 productions in the 2026 fiscal year — 13 feature films, 77 independent films, 130 television and episodic productions and 54 commercials. That is down from $2.3 billion the year before and less than half the $4.4 billion peak of 2022, making it the weakest year for Georgia production spending in about a decade.
